Jefferson

Jefferson Texas is a short 15 minute drive North on US Hwy 59 from Marshall. The population was 2,024 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Marion County.The city is a tourism center, with popular attractions including: Jay Gould's railroad car, the Sterne Fountain, Excelsior House, the House of the Four Seasons, and the bayous formed by Big Cypress, Little Cypress, and Black Cypress located in and around the city. There are numerous antique shops, restaurants, tours, and attractions. It is also a great getaway to go stay the night in a historic Bed & Breakfast
